Binding machines are available in a range of styles. Each one has a different look and feel, and therefore fits for a different purpose.
Here at AfterPrint Ltd we offer a range of binding machines. Our industry knowledge enables us to meet your requirements and offer the best product for you. As with all purchases, we recommend doing your research on different binding machines first. This ensures that you are getting the right product for your needs. It is also important to consider how often it will be used. The volume of documents that needs to be produced. And the available time to complete the binding. There is little point in purchasing a manual machine for a high production environment, for instance.
When considering the finish you are looking for, the brief descriptions via the additional information tab will give you an overview.
Wire binding, often referred to as Wire-O or Twin Loop Binding, is a versatile commercial bookbinding method that allows documents to lie completely flat when opened, supporting a 360-degree rotation of the pages. This technique involves inserting punched pages into a C-shaped wire spine and then using a wire closer to secure the pages. It’s ideal for products such as notebooks, financial reports, educational materials, calendars, and planners due to its professional finish and durable design.
Also known as spiral binding, this method uses a durable, flexible plastic coil to bind pages. It offers similar benefits to wire binding, such as full rotation of pages and the ability to open flat, which are particularly valued in educational and military settings for their resilience and ease of use. Coils come in a range of colors and can accommodate documents up to 50mm in thickness.
We stock plastic coils in Black and White in A4 format. We can also supply coils in up to 45 colours and A5 and A3 lengths by special request.
Frequently used in educational contexts, comb binders allow for easy reusability and adjustments. Pages are prepared with a series of oblong holes to accommodate the binding comb. This method is perfect for materials that require frequent updates, such as training manuals, since combs can be opened and closed without damage, allowing the user to remove pages at any stage.
For a clean and professional look, thermal binding uses heat to adhere a linen strip coated with thermoplastic glue to the document spine. This method does not require hole punching, thereby providing a quick and efficient binding process suited for corporate reports or high-end presentations. This option ensures a sturdy, lay-flat finish that enhances both aesthetics and readability, perfect for professional-looking binds.
A common choice for paperback books, catalogs, and premium brochures, perfect binding attaches a paper cover to the spine of an assembled document using hot glue. Our machines mill the spine before applying glue to ensure a secure bind. Perfect for commercial print environments, corporate offices, and training facilities looking for a professional finish with minimal cost.
Perfect binding is also utilised in hardback book production when used in tandem with a Case Making Machine.
Known for their robust security features, VeloBind and SureBind are ideal for legal documents requiring tamper-proof binding. These systems use a two-part binding strip that locks pages in place, making them suitable for thicker documents up to 750 sheets. The binding process includes precision punching and thermal sealing, which necessitate specialised equipment for edits.
Our heavy-duty punching machines are perfect for preparing larger volumes of documents for various types of binding. Capable of handling different punch patterns and adaptable to quick tooling changes, these machines ensure efficiency and reliability for high-speed production needs, punching up to 50,000+ sheets per hour.
Case making machines are designed to produce the outer case of a hardback book. Often utilised in tandem with other equipment, such as a Perfect Binding Machine, our unique range of Case Making Machines enables fast, accurate, and reliable production. They are versatile enough to handle a variety of cover styles, including those for wire-bound books, menus, ring binders, and clipboards, enabling fast and precise production.
